Abstract

Thermoelectric systems directly convert heat energy into electrical energy using the Seebeck effect, as well as the reverse process through the Peltier effect. These systems can be used to recover waste heat and convert it into useful energy. Understanding the basic concepts and background of thermoelectric systems is essential. This paper explores key concepts of thermoelectric systems, including the Seebeck effect, Joule effect, Peltier effect, Thomson effect, and the thermoelectric background, including the ideal equation and its formulation. Additionally, we discuss thermoelectric power generators, power output, and efficiency. The thermoelectric generator is an internally and externally irreversible heat engine. The basic concepts and background of thermoelectric systems are crucial for designing and optimizing these systems.
