Abstract
All mechanical systems are subjected to forces that generate stresses and deformations in their components. These effects are critical for structural design, material selection, and motion prediction. Flexible components are particularly challenging to analyze due to geometric changes under loading conditions. This paper presents a methodology for modeling flexible mechanisms using a virtual kinematic chain combined with the Davies method for static analysis. The proposed approach allows the determination of stresses, deformations, and motion characteristics in a unified framework. A case study is presented to validate the model, showing strong agreement with classical methods while providing enhanced insight into deformation effects.
